There’s a new cool healthy breakfast in town and you most likely have seen it in your Instagram feed and all over Pinterest. it’s called the smoothie bowl, a new improved colourful version of your regular smoothie.
The smoothie bowl is a fresh fun way to start your day, lighter than ice-cream, better than yogurt parfait, and tastier than your ordinary green smoothie. Easy to make and full of nutrient-dense yumminess, we suspect eating a smoothie bowl a day may also keep the doctor away!
How to make a smoothie bowl:
- Mix fresh (or frozen) fruit, greens, sprouts, seeds (even powdered greens or protein powders), liquid (water, coconut water, almond milk) and ice in a blender until combined to form a smooth consistency.
- Pour smoothie mixture into a bowl.
- Slice fruit into pieces and arrange on top of smoothie mixture with seeds, nuts and muesli (or whatever else tickles your fancy).
