Mun-Yee is a board-certified Doctor of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturist with over 16 years of clinical practice who has recently relocated from Melbourne and joined Vive Health.
Prior to her study and career in Chinese Medicine, Mun-Yee had worked in clinical research and the bio-pharmaceutical industry in the UK and in Singapore, which gave her valuable insight into both the benefits and limitations of modern medicine and clinical research. She also understands that while it is important to adhere to the essence and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the practice of healing cannot work in isolation without considering the complex western environment in which we live. As such, Mun-Yee’s holistic approach combines the best of Eastern and Western practices, being mindful of the intricacies of balancing complementary and mainstream medicines, and appropriately utilising these for the benefit of her patients.
Given her passion for incorporating evidence-based health practices with her classical TCM training, Mun-Yee has completed advanced studies that integrate Functional Medicine with Chinese Medicine. As a Culinary Medicine Coach trained from Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital, she harnesses her expertise in Chinese dietary therapy to combine the art of food and cooking with the science of medicine and healing.
With a mother who is a four-time cancer survivor, Mun-Yee has a special interest in integrative cancer support for the past 25 years. She has completed advanced courses in oncology acupuncture as well as evidence-based use of herbs and dietary supplements in cancer care, and holds a postgraduate Specialist Certificate in Cancer Sciences. Additionally, to solidify her conviction in practising evidence-focused natural medicine, Mun-Yee holds a professional certificate in Comparative Effectiveness Research Training and Instruction (CERTaIN), training that enables her to directly compare existing health care interventions to help her patients explore which are superior, and which pose the greatest benefits and harms.
Mun-Yee works with individuals from various backgrounds and age groups, and particularly enjoys supporting women’s health, restoring sleep, stress management, as well as helping her patients achieve longevity through positive ageing practices. She is a keen advocate of the TCM tenets of holistic healthcare — that every person’s situation is unique, requiring a personalised, well-balanced integrative approach that includes Chinese Medicine and other vital elements (e.g. diet and nutrition, restorative sleep, exercise, emotional and mental health), while encouraging active participation in the healing process such as lifestyle or habit moderation.
With Mun-Yee, her patients can expect an exceptional Chinese Medicine practitioner who embraces true integrative healthcare, enabling them to achieve optimal health and well-being through a comprehensive and personalised treatment approach.
