About Ch’i:
In the 1980s, we started out believing in an opportunity for a new drink that brought nature into the beverage choices available.
We include real herbs which have been used in various culture’s medicine for centuries and handcraft the herbal extracts at the heart of our drinks ourselves right here in Riverhead, New Zealand.
At a time when beverages like bottled water, squeezed juice, energy drink, plant milk and kombucha were futuristic ideas, he had a vision of a sparkling beverage with natural ingredients that could be a healthier alternative to the heavily sugared and artificially coloured and flavoured soft drinks of the time.
Founder Gary Furniss’ work led him to a sparkling drink based on an ancient Chinese medicinal blend. He developed and launched the Original Sparkling Herbal Blend first to New Zealand in 1987 and then to Australia in 1988.
